Pandorama is a linear video work in which an animated representation of the life cycle of the Wonga vine, indigenous to Melbourne, rises up the ten storey high RMIT facade. Botanically named Pandorea pandorana, it sends out spiraling tendrils, pinate leaves, tubular creamy flowers then succulent green pods maturing to copper, opening to release papery seeds. Chosen as a motif of sustainability for Melbourne, the spirit of the plant is given cybernetic contemporary expression, speaking to the site and sense of place.
