Braybrook Commons
This residency saw the making of a number of garden features and sculptural elements at the new Braybrook Commons community gardens, partnering with various groups in the Braybrook community and the Big West organisation to realise a range of place making projects:
Indigenous elder and artist Auntie Viv and her family created a large scale mural for the container.
The Braybrook Men’s Shed team made a vertical garden.
The Horticulture students at Caroline Chisholm College made an indigenous plant swale along with fence art .
Other multicultural community groups contributed to a coloured cable tie fence artwork which saw the word “garden” written in many languages, according to cultural backgrounds of the Braybrook community members.
This first stage of the garden was launched as part of the Big West Festival in December 2013.
