Laughing Waters

Site-responsive Art, Sculpture, Installation Art.

A series of 4 connected different sculptural rock compositions, this installation located on the lawn of Montsalvat, Eltham. Each pays homage to the four design approaches and is formed using specific related rock types. Each of the four sculptural rock arrangements have gilded text carved into selected rocks into that relate, as a looped poem, to the design.

Over history some great designers have shaped the landscape of the Laughing Waters Rd region in Eltham. Beginning with the traditional owners, the Wurundjeri peoples, and later on with William Guilfoyle, Edna Walling and Gordon Ford, and still continued with the Wurundjeri today. Laughing Waters commemorates the diversity and vision of these great landscape shapers.
