Hanging Garden

Site-responsive Art, Ecological Art, Sculpture.

Playfully ironic and intentionally provocative, the words “grow up” spill over from the rooftop and cascade down the side of MARS Gallery, Windsor. Constructed by weaving invasive vine weed species removed from Victorian bushland, the act of producing this artwork was a form of ecological repair. Hanging Garden appears in the spirit of ephemeral protest. Located on a wall in urban space, like much graffiti, a message delivered in unorthodox materials challenges us to reflect on its possible meanings.
