Grounded

Site-responsive Art, Land Art, Environmental Art.

This artwork speaks of the multiple environmental conditions and issues around erosion that are at play in the changing riverscape of the Murray River in Mildura. Plants used for ecological problem solving were specifically chosen as the materials for this sculpture. The eighteen-meter long word “grounded” was made from planted sedges, rushes and grasses, types that are used for erosion control and riverbank stabilisation for the Murray River in the area.
