Superb Wren

A public artwork commissioned for the Verdi apartments in the City of Port Philip, Superb Wren is composed of the profile of the indigenous bird, Malurus cyaneus,  Superb Fairy Wren. The native creeping plant, Hardenbergia violacea , Purple coral pea, is entwined around a sculpted framework to portray a verdant silhouette of the joyful bird. The purple coral pea is a natural habitat for the Superb Fairy Wren out in the bush, which comes into bloom in winter concurrent to the male Wrens changing blue for courtship.
